Brief status update
Hey there! I wanted to let you all know that I’ve been working mighty hard for the last six+ weeks on a long-form essay about my complicated relationship with the church. I started working on it shortly after my last publication on October 3rd thinking it wouldn’t take more than 2-3 weeks to finish. However, it has turned into an all-consuming journey of the soul. There’s been plenty of drama. Just before Thanksgiving, I hurled a Dietrich Bonhoeffer book across the room (metaphorically... in my mind palace). A couple of weeks later, I stumbled into a deep reservoir of long-buried grief and proceeded to sob my brains out for days.
I was starting to make my approach toward the conclusion this past week, but after a long period of sustained internal excavation, I totally ran out of steam on Thursday. So, I gave myself permission to take a few days off. I’m planning to resume working on it on Monday. I hope to wrap it up soon, but I’m learning to accept that THE PROCESS has a life of its own.
Yours in the struggle,
Judy
I have hurled many a book in my mind palace and can relate. The process takes as long as it takes. I’m glad there is catharsis in it.
Hi Judy: I just tried to reply to your post via e-mail and wonder if you received it?
